Still in the process of reading but wow is it informative and a great book! You can see why the nation of Israel is so dependent on the Mossad because their very existence depends on their effectiveness. A nation that is smaller than most states in the U.S. who is surrounded by nations that hate them and think they have no right to exist needs to have a top notch intelligence service which they most assuredly have. They truly are a marvel and their intelligence agency is second to none. They will stop at nothing to accomplish what needs to get done is very evident from the first part of the book I have read. I sure would not want to be on their bad side or have a target on my back with them closing in on me. I would make sure I have my affairs set and my life insurance paid up and probably not see them coming. Some of the stories I have read are chilling indeed. But I am in the place in the book that some of the former Mossad agents have claimed that corruption has infiltrated the Mossad and there are concerns that they have slipped in their effectiveness according to some. It will be interesting to see what the book further states as I continue reading. The history of the Mossad which I have been reading about was so interesting and it would truly be a sad state of affairs if some of the claims being made are true. Regardless though, the Mossad is definitely someone to be reckoned with!

Stunning researched, detailed, but incredibly repetitive and very badly organized. Time line failure. Disorenting. About 70% overlap with his other work.

I have read this book several times and I still find more information to think about and visualize. Gordon Thomas was a friend and I miss him very much. When this organization is good they are great, when they are bad they look like fools.

If one is interested in a reliable inside look at the Mossad and Israel's governing elite, this is "the" book to own. GIDEON'S SPIES is a true page-turner, one which is as fascinating and informative as it is shocking.

Badly written, chapters are unstructured, stories are not in depth, sometimes you are wondering why certain paragraphs appear in certain chapter. At times you are wondering if he really knows what he's writing about. Rambling on and on. Disappointing. There are much better book written on the same subject.

I would classify this book as a "popular history" of the Mossad. The author is a journalist and the book is written in that style. It lacks the complete disclosure of sources that one would find in a more scholarly work. Putting this aside, it is very interesting and easy to read history of Mossad and the key players in Israel's intelligence community. Of great interest is the cooperation between Mossad and the intelligence agencies of other countries, some of which might come as surprise to readers. The time line is sometimes hard to follow as the author sometimes switches between various, occasionally unrelated incidents, events or operations. All in all though, a good read. I liked it.

Connects the dots using diverse sources of information about Israel’s efforts to defend its way of life. The book is worthwhile reading.

Interesting, but the stories just jump around all the time, it is hard to keep track.

Frank Fabozzi is the writer of most of the study books for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams and is considered to be one of the best educators in the fixed income space. Yes this is dry textbook material, yes I would rather read mystery novels or simple self help books; but every once and a while I need to brush up on my skills and I pick of a really serious book. Fixed Income Mathematics is the book I hand to all of my new hires and consultants so that they can quickly get the understanding needed to be effective in developing software to support the traders of these products. No this book will not turn you into a master trader of fixed income products, that is not the purpose. Fixed Income Mathematics will give you a foundation, if you work for an investment company they should have additional research and training materials that you can build upon once you have mastered the fundamentals taught here.

Without spending too much time covering the absolute basics, i.e. taking the subject from ground-zero, he covers each topic from a perspective of an intelligent reader. Quickly covers the basics, the derivation explanation and then the core equation. The equation is very heavily exploded through various examples and situations. TERRIFIC stuff... really what "hits" you in work.Critical areas which he has carefully covered this particular edition has the VERY BEST COVERAGE on the latest developments related to: (missing in prev. edition)* Interest rates and their modelling.* Credit risk concepts (CDS, etc. also explained)\ * Pre-payment modelling - perhaps the only book covering this ever-important subject, esp. relevant nowadays.* Corporate bonds and their measures of risk* MBS Structuring - don't know any book covering this!The best - tracking errors and multi-factor risk-models... the models and techniques explored here, though rudimentary gives you that 1 single-aspect on every analyst's mind .. i.e. fear of errors. I bought this book because it had excellent reviews and the few pages I read seemed somewhat sensible. However, I received the book. It doesn't even make sense. It's a difficult book to read. I don't like books that write in a clever way that you miss the point. It defeats the purpose of being an author. This book is a bunch of intellectual masturbation. I'll study the material myself and write my own book. This is not a good book. It's written in a complicated matter. Throws all the math in it making investing appear more difficult than what it is. This book is not a practical application book. More theory than anything else. Teach me how bonds work and not theory written in a book.

Jonah Jameson's office with pictures of the Vulture. The publisher is very impressed and pays him well. Then Peter heads for the Park Avenue Diamond Exchange, which the Vulture tauntingly announced to the public as the site of his next robbery. While everybody expects the Vulture to strike from above, he strikes from beneath a manhole cover, seizes a case of diamonds, and flees through the New York City sewer system. Spider-Man uses his Spider-Sense to track him down, and wins their battle with an anti-magnetic inverter, a device he built to counteract the magnetic power that the Vulture uses for flight. The Vulture is left for the police, and Peter Parker has photographs of the Vulture's capture, which he sells to J. Jonah Jameson for a large sum of money. There are excellent essays here, but the scope and variety of the various lists included is very disappointing. There are very few writers of color from other countries. Altogether, the lists are very limited, adhering firmly to “tried and true” writers. Finally, there are far too few contemporary authors. A good effort which falls short.

I really enjoyed this book. I was introduced to Black female writers that I'd never heard of and reminded to go back and re-read those that I have.

Great book!! Love how they have a suggested booklist for each genre. These lists are a dream come true for those who needed a little guidance on some of the best books.
